Case Study Solar PV Cornhill-on-tweed - Mr Benn
"Absolute inspired confidence and I found them friendly and easy to work with"
Installed October 2010
John Benn’s 1780s beautiful cottage in the Borders is well over 200 years old... but that didn’t stop him investigating the possibility of reducing his electricity costs with Solar PV.
John, who is retired and lives with his wife in Cornhill-on-Tweed, was driven to PV because of the price of his existing fuel source, and the fact that an ISA product was not generating any income. He had no hesitation installing solar pv energy, as he had seen the impressive returns – and financial benefits – gained by a friend who had PV installed in his Kelso home. “At every stage of the process, my dealings with Absolute inspired confidence and I found them friendly and easy to work with. They were extremely thorough in their surveys and I was pleased with that,” said John.
“Their workmanship was excellent – it was a very neat installation, particularly inside the house and I would have no hesitation in recommending Absolute to anyone interested in renewable energy.
Despite the practical and technical challenges posed by Mr Benn’s installation, Absolute’s team of fitters were able to ensure he can expect an output of around 1880kWh per year. In fact Absolute contacted Mr Benn in December 2011 and he generated 2400 from his 12 panel 3kw system despite a bad year for weather.!
“Despite some heavy snowfall affecting this output,” added John, “I have been pleased so far with my microgeneration data, given the severity of the recent winter.”
