Solar Panels Edinburgh Case Study
I am expecting about 2000kWh over the year...
Moving to Musselburgh to be closer to family gave Mr and Mrs Mason the opportunity to try a source of renewable energy for the first time in their own home. Their oldest son has solar water power at his home in Rugby.
They chose a 10 panel system for generate electric power which was installed by Absolute in November 2009.
“Our previous home was over 100 years old and this one was built 13 years ago so it is a very different type of property,” said Mr Mason, a former science teacher. “ The front of the house faces south-east and an open green area so it is not overlooked. We also felt that our savings were not earning much so it was worth investing in something different.”
Mr Mason is keeping records of the power being generated and is looking forward to see how it goes over the coming spring and summer. “Over 200kW hours has been produced so far over the winter and I am expecting about 2000kWh over the year,” he said. He has written a step-by-step guide to the installation and energy generation for neighbours and friends who have enquired.
The 10 panel project cost £11,000 and Mr Mason received a grant of £3300.
