Roof Suitability

Mounting

Contrary to popular belief, Solar Photovoltaic panels for producing electricty do not always have to go on your house roof. They can be put on garages, outhouses, sheds or even ground mounted. The mounting systems can also be used on slate roofs or corrugated metal roofs.

Orientation

The ideal orientation of a roof would be south facing at a 30 degree tilt. This would give the maximum performance, however it is perfectly feasible to put this system on a roof which is West or East facing as the table below indicates it would still perform but just not as well as a south facing roof.Roofs which are north of West and East are not recommended. Shading

Shading of the panels is to be avoided at all costs as this will affect the performance of the system.

Roof Windows

Dormer and velux windows limit the space available but your Technical Surveyor will design your system around them.
