How much will it cost to install a solar system?
An exact cost will depend on your individual needs.
Solar Thermal prices start from £3750 for a single panel evacuated tube domestic installation.
As a rule of thumb expect about £4500 for a solar system to support a 200 Litre hot water cylinder.
Solar PV prices start about £6000 for a 1.6kW
domestic system.
As a guide expect about £11000 for a 4kW system.

Which way should the panel face?
It should face ideally south, but anything between east and west is fine.
What about shade?
Shade from buildings or trees will reduce the amount of solar energy that falls on the panel, so the less shade, the better however if it is total shading then it is not cost effective.
How many panels will I need for my project?
Typically between one or two solar thermal panels should be ample to supply the domestic hot water needs of an average household and 12/14 Solar PV panels will make a significant saving to your electricity bill. If you have a larger project in mind, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements
Will solar work when the weather is frosty?
Solar thermal panels are 'temperature independent' but they will work on cold, clear winter days providing you with a surprising amount of energy. Solar PV panels will start to work as soon as it is light all year round. They work better when it's cool; at temperatures over 27 degrees centigrade they start to lose efficiency.
Can I convert my existing system?
Yes it can; a typical system with a hot water tank can be converted by replacing the tank or adding another one.
Do I need planning permission?
Generally not for domestic solar panels, unless your building is listed or in a conservation area, but we advise you to contact your local authority for detailed information.
Can you do the job for me?
Our qualified engineers can carry out the installation, normally in one or two days dependant on the size of job.
