Clean Energy Cashback
Clean Energy Cashback (also known as Feed In Tariffs), introduced on 1st April 2010, provide financial incentives for people and businesses to install electricity-generating technologies such as solar PV panels and wind turbines. It will do this by guaranteeing a minimum payment for the electricity generated as well as the electricity exported to grid.
Key Values
The Government is currently in a consulation period which will last until 23rd December 2011. The figures below are subject to change.
- Earn up to 21p per kilowatt generated, depending on type and size of system
- Save on your electricity bill when you use your self generated electricity free of charge
- Earn an additional 3p per kilowatt when you export any unused electricity.
- Tariffs and sell back values are index linked and free of tax for 20 years (25 years for solar PV)
- Usually 8% return or more using Government SAP calculation 2009.
- Qualifies for Energy Saving Scotland interest-free home loans
Act Now! The
Government are set to introduce a requirement for an EPC (Energy
Performance Certificate) in April 2012 for anyone looking to install
solar pv. To receive the highest available tariff of 21p per kilowatt,
your property must achieve at least a C rating. Any properties below
this level will receive a lesser tariff rate which has still to
be confirmed.
